Hyderabad: The state govt is pushing an ambitious education reform agenda that stretches from school education to higher education and skill development, with a focus on modernising institutions, improving student outcomes and creating stronger industry linkages, legislative affairs minister D Sridhar Babu told the assembly on Friday.Participating in a discussion on education reforms, Sridhar Babu said the govt was working to make all educational institutions drug-free campuses, transform the Young India Physical Education and Sports University into a high performance institute and establish incubation hubs across state universities to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.He said an incubation hub, K-Hub, was being planned in Warangal on the lines of Hyderabad’s T-Hub, with similar facilities proposed in all government universities.To enhance employability, the state launched the Young India Skills University to equip students with industry-relevant skills. Internship opportunities were also being provided in leading companies, allowing students to gain practical work experience while pursuing their studies, he said.Sridhar Babu said Telangana had become the first state to introduce banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) courses in degree and engineering programmes with the support of a BFSI consortium.The govt is also planning to establish 104 Telangana public schools catering to students from pre-primary to Class XII and 105 Young India Integrated Schools, with the combined investment estimated at ₹21,000 crore.He further said that, with support from TCS, 65 industrial training institutes had been upgraded into advanced trade centres and that the initiative would be extended to all 127 ITIs in the state.
