Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk reportedly escaped unharmed after a vehicle linked to his concert convoy was targeted in a shooting in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada. The incident occurred on September 5, 2026, after his performance at Rogers Forum. Several rounds were fired at the vehicle on McCallum Road. Reports said around seven to ten bullets struck the reportedly bulletproof Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The shots did not penetrate the vehicle, leaving everyone inside safe. Ammy Virk previously spoke about his family’s financial situation during a conversation with Siddharth Kannan. He recalled how his father arranged money for his first album when the family did not have substantial financial resources. The singer-actor said his father sold their Maruti Zen to fund his musical ambitions. He also took an additional loan to ensure Ammy had enough money to produce his first album. “People often ask me about the first car I bought; I tell them that I actually sold a car first.” Ammy then explained how the money raised through the sale and loan was invested in his debut album. “For my first album, my father sold our Zen for Rs 2.5-3 lakh, and he got another Rs 2.5-3 lakh on loan, and he put all of that money (Rs 5 lakh) into my first album,” he said.

Singer-actor cleared his father’s debt

Ammy Virk’s career eventually reached a stage where he could repay the money his family had borrowed. After gaining recognition in Punjab, he cleared a loan of around Rs 30-40 lakh that his father had taken. He also decided to use his earnings to improve the family’s living conditions. In 2012, he began building a new house for his family in their village.

The actor-singer said a significant part of his income went into the property during the following years. Between 2013 and 2015, he directed his earnings towards the construction and interiors of the house. “From 2013 to 2015, whatever money I earned, I put all of that in that house in the village. We got Italian marble, full-body showers, and everything. The full-body showers in that house cost Rs 6-7 lakh,” he said.

Family went from one AC to nine

Ammy Virk revealed that his family purchased its first air conditioner in 2009. Before that, six members of the family would sleep in the same room. The situation changed considerably after his career took off. Their new house now has nine air conditioners and a home theatre. Ammy also revealed that one shower in the property cost around Rs 6 lakh.
