Police said the accused mixed cocopeat treated with jaggery water and synthetic colours (Sunset Yellow and Tartrazine) with low-grade tea dust and granules to manufacture adulterated tea powder for illegal profit, which was supplied to local tea stalls. Officials seized 120 kg of adulterated tea powder, 30 kg of natural tea powder, 138 kg of cocopeat mix, food colours, jaggery boxes, and other equipment. Police warned of strict action against food adulteration and urged the public to buy tea powder only from authorised sellers.Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Telangana conducted a surprise inspection at the Mandal Agriculture Office, Peddapalli, on Tuesday and found multiple irregularities in the functioning of the office. According to the ACB, the agriculture officer allegedly did not register 8 cases related to illegal storage of spurious seeds and urea. Officials also found that key records, including stock, attendance, inspection, sampling, and scheme implementation registers, were either not maintained or not updated. Several applications under the Rythu Bheema and farm mechanisation schemes were kept pending beyond the prescribed timelines. The officer was also found to have engaged a private individual for official duties without permission from higher authorities. Suspicious UPI transactions received from private persons are under verification. A report was sent to the govt recommending necessary action against the concerned officials.Hyderabad: An Assistant Engineer (Operations) of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) was caught red-handed by the ACB for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹16,000. According to officials, Mamidisetty Srinivasa Rao, posted at the Masab Tank section in Hyderabad, was trapped by ACB officials while accepting the bribe from a complainant. The amount was allegedly sought to avoid taking coercive action over a seized electricity meter. The amount was recovered from the officer’s possession, following which he was arrested and produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
