Hyderabad: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday condemned the demolition of a mosque in Uttar Pradesh, questioning whether the constitutional right to freedom of religion applies to Muslims. Alleging that the BJP govt acted in haste, Owaisi claimed the mosque in Saharanpur had existed since at least 1911 and was demolished before higher courts could hear the case. He accused the Uttar Pradesh administration of acting unconstitutionally and urged the mosque management committee to challenge the demolition in higher courts, assuring AIMIM’s support.
