Arshad Warsi says Sanjay Dutt has Rajkumar Hirani ‘AT GUNPOINT’ for ‘Munna Bhai 3’: ‘I’m just really praying for it’

Nearly twenty years after ‘Munna Bhai M.B.B.S’ and ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ turned Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi into one of Bollywood’s most cherished on-screen duos, fans are still eagerly awaiting the franchise’s third chapter. Arshad Warsi has now given an update that is sure to reignite hope among admirers of the beloved comedy series.

Arshad Warsi jokes about Sanjay Dutt pushing Rajkumar Hirani for Part 3

Speaking to SCREEN, Arshad Warsi humorously claimed that Sanjay Dutt has been relentlessly pushing director Rajkumar Hirani to finally greenlight ‘Munna Bhai 3’. He said, “Sanju (Sanjay Dutt) has Raju Hirani at gunpoint to make another one. Poor Raju even went on national television and said, ‘Sanju, I am making it, Sanju’ (laughs). Everyone wants to do it. I’m just really praying for it. Raju is seriously working on it, so fingers crossed for everyone!”

How much of the circuit was scripted?

During the same conversation, director Tigmanshu Dhulia, also present, asked Arshad Warsi how much of his iconic Circuit dialogue was written versus improvised on set. The actor explained, “A lot was improvised. In the first Munna Bhai, a lot was improvised. Everything was improvised. But in the second one, Raju literally knew what I was going to say. The first one had a lot of improvisation. But that was my deal with Raju. I told Raju, ‘Please let me have fun because this role is something else.‘”

The truth behind the famous ‘stars’ scene

Tighmanshu Dhulia further probed whether the widely loved “stars” scene from the franchise was scripted or made up on the spot. Arshad Warsi clarified that the scene had a written base, with only its lighter, more nonsensical portions improvised, while the emotionally rich lines came straight from Hirani’s script.

What’s next for Arshad Warsi

Away from ‘Munna Bhai’ speculation, Arshad Warsi will next appear in Tigmanshu Dhulia’s ‘Ghamasaan’ opposite Pratik Gandhi, premiering on ZEE5 on September 11.
