Hyderabad: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-PG 2026 examination was conducted peacefully across Telangana on Sunday, with no discrepancies reported so far. Of the 17,626 candidates registered across 56 centres in 14 districts, 17,143 appeared for the exam, recording an attendance rate of 97.26%, while 483 candidates were absent.Candidates said the paper was largely moderate, though some questions and subjects proved challenging. “The exam was moderate, but some questions were lengthy. The MCQs were lesser in number this time, with 180 compared to 200 last year, but they were all one-liners. This time, it was lengthier. But it was good overall,” said Lakshmi Venkata, a candidate. Dev Sood, a faculty member at a medical coaching centre, told TOI that the initial feedback from students suggested the paper was moderate. “The paper was quite moderate this time. It was neither too tough nor too easy,” he said. He added that students found questions from medicine and surgery relatively difficult, while “many questions” came from obstetrics and gynaecology.Nationally, the examination was scheduled for 2,73,096 candidates at 1,111 examination centres across 339 cities. A total of 2,65,980 candidates appeared for the examination. In Telangana, police and district authorities made elaborate security arrangements at examination centres, including frisking, CCTV surveillance, parking and entry-exit management, uninterrupted power and basic amenities. Police also inspected centres and imposed prohibitory orders around examination venues, restricting gatherings within 200 metres and the functioning of xerox shops and internet centres within 100 metres.Health minister Damodar Raja Narasimha monitored the examination from the Regional Command Control Centre at the TCS office in Gachibowli. Officials said the examination was conducted smoothly across all centres.Cops come to candidate’s rescue NEET-PG aspirant running late for the examination was dropped off at the centre by Cyberabad police personnel on Sunday. According to an X post by the Cyberabad traffic police, a patrol team in Gachibowli assisted the candidate in reaching the examination centre on time. The department said the gesture was part of its approach of going “beyond policing”. The student, see in the video, thanked the Cyberabad police. “I am really thankful to the traffic CI and the Cyberabad commissioner. I was running late, but they helped me reach on time,” he said. Replies to the post appreciated the intervention, with users specifically thanking the Raidurgam traffic police. The personnel continued their traffic duties while assisting the candidate, according to the post.
