Kavitha demands Centre pass BC reservation bill, plans chalo Delhi | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha demanded that the Centre pass the BC reservation bill, granting 50% representation to Backward Classes in legislative bodies, during the upcoming Parliament budget session.“If the Centre fails to pass the BC reservation bill before the budget session, we will mobilise thousands of activists and lead a massive ‘Chalo Delhi’ rally with over 1,000 cars. Drawing inspiration from the revolutionary spirit of Maroju Veeranna, we will force the powers in Delhi to yield to the democratic rights of the people,” Kavitha said, while addressing the ‘Samajika Nyaya Telangana Sankalpa Sabha’ at Saroornagar stadium on Thursday.Criticising both the ruling party and the opposition, Kavitha targeted the Congress leadership in Telangana, alleging that its leaders were playing a double game, “wrestling in the alleys of Hyderabad while maintaining friendships in Delhi.” She demanded that the 42% BC reservation bill passed by the state govt, which is awaiting approval from the Centre, be cleared without further delay.Addressing thousands of delegates, leaders and citizens from across Telangana, Kavitha announced a nationwide movement aimed at securing 50% reservation for BCs in legislative bodies. She also unveiled an 11-point charter of resolutions for the empowerment of marginalised communities.Responding to political opponents who have questioned her standing to advocate for BCs, Kavitha said: “When I speak for the rights of BCs, some mock me citing my background. But let me be crystal clear. My birth was not in my hands, but deciding whom I dedicate my life and work to is entirely in my hands. I am dedicating my life to working alongside communities that have not even crossed the threshold of a gram panchayat, until every single one of them is fully empowered.”Kavitha called upon democratic forces, BC organisations, civil society groups and citizens to set aside minor differences and unite under the banner of social justice.“To fight for equal justice for all sections, one needs guts and courage. I have both, and I will stand on the front lines until true social justice is delivered,” she said.
