Govt grants land rights to thousands of farmers | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Monday said the govt was undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of the revenue administration to provide transparent services, secure legal land rights for farmers and bring a lasting solution to long-pending land disputes. He said the initiative was already yielding results, with lakhs of farmers receiving pattadar passbooks and formal ownership rights through resurveys conducted across the state.Addressing a review meeting with senior revenue officials at the secretariat, Ponguleti reviewed the implementation of the Bhu Bharati Act, distribution of pattadar passbooks, statewide land resurveys and the resolution of land-related grievances. He directed officials to ensure faster, transparent, and citizen-friendly delivery of revenue services at the field level. The minister said over 12.40 lakh pattadar passbooks had been issued during the past 34 months, including 5.68 lakh, after the Bhu Bharati Act came into force on April 14, 2025. He said the legislation was introduced with the objective of making Telangana free from land disputes.Ponguleti said the govt was identifying farmers who had been cultivating land for decades without formal recognition in official records and granting them legal ownership through resurveys. This, he said, would enable them to access bank loans, Rythu Bharosa, and other govt welfare benefits.Highlighting the impact of the programme, the minister cited Narayanapuram revenue village in Kesamudram mandal of Mahabubabad district, where 906 tribal and non-tribal farmers were granted land rights over more than 1,600 acres. Similarly, resurveys conducted in 15 villages across Nutankal and Maddirala mandals of Suryapet district resulted in land titles being issued to 2,400 farmers covering 3,450 acres. He said these measures were helping farmers overcome long-standing hardships caused by the absence of proper land records and directed officials to replicate such exercises in other regions so that eligible beneficiaries receive their rightful titles without further delay.Stressing the importance of effective implementation, the minister said govt decisions would benefit people only when they reached the grassroots level efficiently.Ponguleti also reviewed the progress of resurveys in Mulkapalli mandal of Mulugu district; Palwancha, Aswaraopeta and Dammapeta mandals of Bhadradri Kothagudem district; and Sathupalli mandal of Khammam district.
