TNNHyderabad: BJP leader Gudur Narayana Reddy on Saturday demanded a special Rythu Bharosa package for farmers affected by drought-like conditions, saying the existing assistance was inadequate to offset losses.Reacting to chief minister A Revanth Reddy’s appeal to farmers to skip one crop during the coming yasangi season to conserve drinking water, Narayana Reddy said farmers could not be expected to forgo cultivation without adequate compensation. He sought a special per-acre package covering crop losses, unsown lands and farmers who followed the govt’s advice.Citing estimates that vanakalam crop losses could touch ₹20,000 crore, he demanded an immediate damage assessment, an all-party meeting and a delegation to Delhi to seek special central assistance for Telangana farmers.
