'Faced a lot of racism': Indian woman working as a nurse in Australia asks if not liking life abroad is a good reason to return. Redditors say...
Redditor says she faces racism in her nurse job in Australia which is one of the reasons she wants to come back to India.

A Redditor, claiming to be a 24-year-old woman with a secure nurse job in Australia and the prospect of getting permanent residency in two years, said she does not like life in Australia overall. Racism in the workplace is one of the reasons why she does not like it there; other reasons include loneliness. But racism targeting Indias is ‘horrible’ in Australia, the woman said, adding that her friends and family members advised her not to return. She asked Redditors whether not liking life abroad is a good reason to come back to India, though she disclosed that she has a plan to return to India once she gets PR in Australia. Then she will stay in India for 3-4 years to figure out what suits her. The Redditor revealed that she has her widowed mother to take care of in India. She said she lost her father when she was a teen and another reason to consider going back to India is to live in the same country with her mother.“All my friends live in India and I feel quite lonely here. And working in healthcare I have faced a lot of racism. I also worked as a school nurse and Indian kids in general face horrible racism. I feel scared that my kids probably will face it too,” she wrote.“I preferred dating back in India and just know that I’ll have a better time finding someone in India than here. But my family and friends tell me that I should stay and I’m stupid to want to return,” she added.

And the unanimous verdict is: Get your Australian PR

While Redditors comforted her that there is nothing wrong in wanting to come back to India just because she was not liking Australia, the wiser option, they said, is to get Australian PR first. Some suggested to get her mother to Australia for six months but not compromising on Australian citizenship, as she said she is close to getting that. “Life will be better for your kids with a commonwealth passport .. indian passport has no value.. also remember you are earning in aus dollars . You will be able to take care of your mom better in india.. indian nurses won’t get paid high,” one suggested.“As for racial discrimination, that’s unavoidable in Western countries but India has its own discrimination based on religion caste color status etc,” another said.
