In T, luxe champagne gets pricier at Rs 1.16L a bottle | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: A bottle of luxury rose champagne that already commanded a six-figure price tag has become even more expensive in Telangana. Following a revision of maximum retail prices (MRPs) for select imported liquor brands, the state’s costliest listed liquor will now retail at a staggering Rs 1,16,560 for a 750ml bottle, marking an increase of Rs 8,360. Despite the latest revision, the premium champagne continues to top the state’s liquor price charts. The revised prices were notified on Wednesday and cover select imported liquor varieties, including Scotch and single malt whisky, vodka, gin, tequila, wine and champagne. Officials clarified that the increase does not apply to all imported liquor brands. Instead, it is limited to products that were excluded from the previous price revision carried out around two years ago. Some premium champagne labels have recorded the sharpest price increases under the latest revision. The MRP of a 750ml bottle of ice champagne has risen by Rs 3,470, from Rs 15,400 to Rs 18,870. Both varieties have registered price hikes of approximately 22.5%.The latest revision is separate from a broader proposal to increase liquor prices across the state, which is still pending before the state govt. A price revision committee has already submitted its recommendations, but the govt is yet to take a final decision on an overall increase in liquor prices, according to sources.Among other premium spirits, imported vodka varieties have also witnessed notable price increases. The price of one 750ml vodka bottle has increased by Rs 860, from Rs 4,190 to Rs 5,050. Another imported vodka brand has become dearer by Rs 960, taking the price of a 700ml bottle from Rs 6,320 to Rs 7,280.Several other imported liquor brands have also seen their prices revised.
