Auto Nagar residents allege unauthorised dumping of waste | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Residents of several residential colonies around Auto Nagar in Mansoorabad have alleged that garbage, chemical waste and animal carcasses are being dumped illegally in open areas at night, causing a foul smell and posing health hazards. They urged the govt to step up surveillance and deploy pumps to drain the stagnant water.LB Nagar MLA D Sudheer Reddy and pollution control board local officer Venkata Narasiah visited Auto Nagar on Friday and interacted with residents. He assured them that officials from HYDRAA and GHMC would clear the stagnant sewage water. He also said strict action would be taken against those allegedly dumping animal carcasses and other waste materials.The MLA said inspections were being carried out at chemical and fertiliser godowns and mechanical sheds in Auto Nagar industrial area. Legal action would be taken against those discharging waste and chemicals into drainage lines, he added. The MLA also said a watchman had been appointed and STP plants had been constructed in the past. A storm water drain had also been built in the area at a cost of Rs 6 crore, he said. Former corporators Vithal Reddy, Tanguturi Nagaraju, Jakkidi Raghuveer Reddy, along with presidents of the affected colonies, were also present.
