Woman throttled to death over ₹5,000 dispute; 2 held

Hyderabad: Two days after the murder of a 46-year-old woman working at a catering unit in Nagole, police arrested two persons. Financial disputes between the victim and the accused allegedly led to the murder.Nagole police said the postmortem revealed that the victim died after being throttled by the accused, P Yellaiah (51) and E Sitaramaraju. At the time of the incident, both the accused and the victim were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.The victim allegedly confronted the accused over non-payment of the promised ₹5,000 after being sexually abused, investigators said. Angered by the victim’s confrontation, the two accused allegedly throttled her to death and abandoned her body on an isolated patch of land amid bushes on Sept 29.The decomposed body was discovered on Wednesday with its hands and legs missing. Police said stray dogs had apparently bitten off the limbs after the body was abandoned.Officials said Yellaiah and Sitaramaraju are relatives. Yellaiah worked as a watchman at a local apartment complex and allegedly had a habit of luring and sexually abusing women. After the woman went missing, her family members lodged a missing person complaint. Her body was found on Wednesday, following which the murder came to light.
