Katrina Kaif breaks silence on trolling and body-shaming after embracing motherhood: ‘I would have been paralysed with fear if..’ | Hindi Movie News

Katrina Kaif has urged people to protect their self-worth from the constant scrutiny and criticism on social media, following the trolling she faced over her post-pregnancy appearance. Speaking at an event for her beauty brand Kay Beauty in London, the actor highlighted how trying to meet everyone’s expectations can affect confidence and prevent people from making choices for themselves. Her remarks come weeks after Katrina was criticised for her weight following a public appearance with husband Vicky Kaushal at the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai. The actor welcomed her son in November 2025.At the London event, Katrina spoke about the importance of not allowing online opinions to shape one’s perception of oneself. She emphasised that constantly trying to please others can come at the cost of personal growth and independence.“I think we really need to be careful of letting the narrative on social media affect our self-worth and our value, because there are so many opinions out there that if we’re going to start trying to cater to all of them, I think it really hampers your ability to make choices for yourself,” she said.Reflecting on her own experiences with criticism, Katrina said that allowing every comment to dictate her actions would have made it difficult for her to move forward in life. She added that while there are times when people receive appreciation from the world around them, there are also moments when they need to find encouragement within themselves.“Personally for me, if every time that I faced critiques or comments, I let that dictate my actions, I think I would have been paralysed with fear and unable to move ahead in my life or in any sphere of life. There are times where the world is going to celebrate you and other times you have to really be your own biggest cheerleader,” she added.Katrina also explained the philosophy behind Kay Beauty’s tagline, “It’s K to be you”, which encourages people to embrace their individuality and accept themselves through different stages of life.“So I think that’s really the thinking behind K-Beauty’s tagline, it’s K to be you, is that you really have to kind of accept yourself and be true to you, to who you are in this moment. And that’s going to change from day to day. It’s going to change from different times and different phases in your life,” she said. The actor acknowledged that confidence and self-perception are not constant, with some days bringing a sense of accomplishment and others leaving people feeling uncertain about themselves. She encouraged people to take these changing emotions in their stride rather than place unnecessary pressure on themselves.“There are times where you feel like you’re acing everything in life and there are other times where you feel like, I just can’t get anything right. There are times where you feel like you’re looking and feeling like the best version of yourself and other times I think you’re kind of on a journey to get there. I think it’s good to wear it all lightly and not take yourself too seriously also and just have fun with it.”Katrina came under scrutiny after she attended the Ambani family’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Mumbai with Vicky Kaushal in September. Photographs and videos from the event drew comments about her weight and changes in her appearance following childbirth. The incident also prompted several fans to call out the body-shaming directed at women and the pressure new mothers face over their physical appearance.Salman Khan also addressed the issue of online trolling during *Bigg Boss 20*’s Weekend Ka Vaar, questioning why women are criticised for gaining weight after pregnancy. Without taking Katrina’s name, the actor pointed out that pregnancy naturally brings changes to a woman’s body and said new mothers should be allowed time to spend with their families instead of being judged for their appearance.
