‘Avengers: Doomsday’ NEW POSTER has fans spotting Scarlet Witch clues as Anthony Mackie teases ‘a lot of doom’ in Robert Downey Jr. starrer |

A new poster for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has sent Marvel fans into theory mode, with three mysterious figures appearing behind Doctor Doom in the latest promotional artwork. The poster was unveiled during San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026 in Spain on October 3, prompting speculation that familiar Marvel Cinematic Universe characters could return. Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie has offered another tease about the upcoming film, promising audiences “a lot of doom”.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ poster sparks Wanda, Sylvie and Agatha theories
According to the promotional material presented at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026, Doctor Doom occupies the centre of the new ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ artwork, while three figures in coloured robes stand behind him. Their identities have not been revealed, but the mysterious silhouettes have already triggered speculation among Marvel fans. The red-robed figure has been linked by some fans to Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen. The character in green has similarly prompted theories about Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino in ‘Loki’. Meanwhile, the purple-robed figure has led to suggestions that it could be Agatha Harkness, played by Kathryn Hahn, or Clea, portrayed by Charlize Theron in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’.These remain fan theories and have not been confirmed by Marvel Studios. The figures could also represent characters connected to Doctor Doom rather than established MCU heroes or villains.
Marvel fans dissect mysterious figures in new poster
The speculation gained further momentum because similarly coloured figures were spotted during Marvel’s presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in California in July. Fans have since been attempting to connect the imagery with characters from across the MCU.One fan speculated that the purple figure could be Agatha Harkness, while another pointed to the colour of Wanda’s magic as a possible clue to her appearance in the film. However, none of these interpretations has been officially endorsed by Marvel Studios. With the identities of the three figures being deliberately kept under wraps, the poster appears to be giving fans plenty to decode ahead of the film’s release.
Anthony Mackie teases ‘a lot of doom’ in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Anthony Mackie, who attended the Málaga event alongside David Harbour and Winston Duke, also teased the scale of the threat in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The actor spoke about reuniting with Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan, joking about the trio wondering which of them might die in the upcoming film.“Whenever Chris Evans and Sebastian Stan and I get together, it’s like a powwow, like, we’re boys in the corner hanging out, laughing, joking and talking about what’s happening. Then we stop, Sebastian looks at both of us and goes, ‘So, which one of us is gonna die?’” Mackie said.He then offered a more direct hint about Doctor Doom’s presence in the story, saying, “I think the big thing is the amount of doom you’re going to see. It’s like every corner we turn, every time somebody speaks, it’s like, ‘Yo, there’s a lot of doom outside.’”
Russo Brothers promise character moments in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
The Russo Brothers, who are directing ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, also sent a recorded message to attendees at the Málaga event. Mackie discussed the filmmakers’ ability to balance a huge ensemble while ensuring individual characters receive meaningful moments.“The Russo Brothers were great at giving every character and every person their moment. Every time I went to watch Endgame, every single character was given that moment for the audience to connect with them and breathe. And I think it’s the same with this movie,” Mackie said.Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Stephen McFeely, ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ features Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming and Wesley Holloway, among others.
