In a post on X (previously Twitter), the actor said he had finally received confirmation that a big-banner studio chose not to cast him after allegedly labelling him “anti-govt,” “too vocal” and “potentially controversial.”The actor’s revelation has sparked discussion around the impact of an artist’s public opinions on professional opportunities in the Hindi film industry.

In his post, Shorey said the development confirmed a concern he had carried for some time.“With a heavy heart I’m sharing with you guys that I have finally got my first ever confirmation of not being cast in a film by a big mainstream studio for being ‘anti-govt’(?!) , too ‘vocal’, and potentially ‘controversial’,” he wrote.Shorey added that he had “always had an inkling” that his outspoken nature could affect his career, but said the information was finally confirmed to him by a source he trusted.“I have always had an inkling about this, and it’s finally confirmed by a trusted source. The world is a soul crushing place, my friends. You have to be your own light,” he went on to add.

Following Shorey’s post, several users expressed their support for the actor and argued that his work and individuality should not be defined by whether a major studio chooses to cast him.One user wrote, “Your identity is beyond the ‘big mainstream studio’.
