RMP held for assaulting policeman, moved to Erragadda hospital in Hyderabad | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: An RMP doctor was arrested for allegedly assaulting a head constable who visited a private hospital in Nanakramguda to verify a Dial-112 complaint about a suspected illegal activity, Gachibowli police said.The accused, identified as Sunil Kumar, 36, runs Usha Clinic in Warangal. According to police, Sunil had reported that women visiting a fertility centre were allegedly being told they could become pregnant through “illegal means”, Gachibowli assistant sub-inspector Anil Kumar said.Head constable T Shivakumar, in charge of the patrol-2 mobile unit, reached the hospital to verify the complaint. Police said their staff informed Sunil that his allegations were vague, following which he became agitated and started recording the interaction on his mobile phone.“When Shivakumar stopped him from recording, Sunil allegedly snatched the head constable’s official TG-COP mobile phone and threw it on the road, damaging it,” Anil Kumar said.Police alleged that when questioned about his actions, Sunil grabbed the head constable by the collar and punched him in the face, causing a bleeding injury. A case was registered and he was taken into custody.During the investigation, police learnt from Sunil’s family members that he had reportedly escaped from a rehabilitation centre and had been struggling with mental health issues, the ASI said.On Wednesday, the Gachibowli police shifted him to the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) at Erragadda. Further investigation is underway.
