Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday said a nationwide movement was on the anvil with the slogan “SIR Go Back” against the ‘British’ (Bharatiya) Janata Party on the lines of the “Simon Go Back” agitation launched against the British during India’s freedom struggle.Speaking at the Conclave-2026 organised in New Delhi, Revanth accused BJP govt at the Centre of using Election Commission in the same way the Britishers used Simon Commission to undermine Indians’ rights, specifically the right to vote in this case.“The SIR process is being manipulated by the central govt by misusing ECI to delete genuine voters who are against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They have already deleted 13 crore votes and want to delete, in all, 20 crore anti-Modi votes. They are identifying these voters using AI through social media platforms. In democracy, it is the people who decide who should rule, but they want to decide it like kings used to decide in the past,” alleged Revanth.He stated that the country is going to unite in the near future and, cutting across political affiliations, parties led by Mamata Banerjee, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, MK Stalin and everyone will come together with the slogan “SIR Go Back”. BJP and Modi are trying to demolish the voting right given to the poor by the founding fathers of the country, he alleged.“The nationwide movement will start because history has taught us that whenever the minorities are suppressed, such movements are launched. I am telling PM Modi that he should win hearts, not divide the nation to win elections. Don’t divide, it is not good for the country. As an ABVP karyakarta of the past, this is my concern,” CM Revanth said.The chief minister also alleged that unlike former prime minister Manmohan Singh, who had magnanimously supported Gujarat when Modi was CM, PM Modi was not doing the same for Congress-ruled states.
