Chaddi gang strikes Manikonda gated community, flees with ₹80k | Hyderabad News
Hyderabad: Panic gripped residents in and around Manikonda after a gang of burglars, allegedly dressed in chaddi-style attire, broke into a gated community in Neknampur and stole ₹80,000 cash from a locked house in the early hours of Sunday.CCTV footage showing the gang entering and leaving the targeted apartment went viral on social media, prompting police to issue advisories and step up security awareness in gated communities.“Four persons gained entry into the apartment in Manikonda and walked up to the fourth floor. They targeted a locked house and stole ₹80,000. They did not harm anyone while entering or leaving the apartment,” Narsingi inspector D Vishnu Vardhan Reddy said.The accused fled the apartment on foot after committing the offence. Police said they had not received information about the gang targeting any other house so far.Following a complaint from the apartment owners, police registered a case and formed special teams to trace the accused. As of Monday night, there was no breakthrough. The four men had covered their faces, making identification difficult. A clues team was deployed and fingerprints were collected from the scene.Police said inadequate and inattentive security at the gated community worked to the burglars’ advantage. The accused allegedly scaled a wall at the rear of the property to gain entry. The burglary took place between 2am and 3am.Chandanagar police have also launched preventive measures following the incident. “In view of the recent house-breaking by a gang in a gated community, we have taken preventive measures to sensitise residents and security personnel. A special awareness poster has been prepared highlighting the modus operandi and precautionary measures. Our officers visited all major gated communities in Chandanagar, met the security staff and management, and alerted them to strengthen night security and surveillance,” police said.
