MHA scraps 34 CISF posts after security withdrawal from Patanjali food and herbal park in Haridwar | India News
NEW DELHI: The home ministry on Monday directed the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to abolish all 34 sanctioned posts of its security wing at Swami Ramdev‘s Patanjali Food and Herbal Park Pvt Ltd in Haridwar, ending the sanctioned manpower structure of the deployed wing.The force had withdrawn its security from the premises on May 4. However, the ministry has now formally ordered the abolition of the posts that constituted the sanctioned strength of the deployed security wing.Earlier this month, the ministry delivered a letter to the CISF and conveyed the decision for the “abolition of the undermentioned 34 posts consequent upon withdrawal of CISF Security Wing from Patanjali Food & Herbal Park, Private Limited, Haridwar (Uttarakhand) on May 4, 2026”.CISF had been providing security to the Patanjali Food and Herbal Park since June 2015, after a person was killed during a clash between the establishment’s security guards and local truck union supporters. Following the incident, 10 persons, including Ramdev’s brother Rambharat, were arrested in connection with the case.As per the order, the sanctioned strength of 34 personnel comprised one assistant commandant, four sub-inspectors, two assistant sub-inspectors, 11 head constables and 16 Constables.The MHA also directed the CISF to ensure that “all pending and outstanding dues, if any, are reimbursed by the concerned management.”The CISF’s security services were funded by the food park’s administration, with the establishment paying the Centre for the deployment of the paramilitary force.

Established under the 50th Act of Parliament in 1968, the CISF is a multi-faceted Central Armed Police Force under the MHA. Starting with a strength of 3,129 personnel, the force has since expanded to 2.20 lakh personnel, with deployments across almost all states in the country.According to ANI, the CISF currently provides security cover to 361 critical national installations, including 70 airports. The force also maintains 12 Reserve Battalions to respond to security exigencies and operates eight state-of-the-art training institutions across the country to train and strengthen its personnel.
