Hyderabad: Telangana is filling pharmacist posts in govt hospitals and medical stores at public health centres in phases, health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha said on the occasion of World Pharmacists Day on Friday. He added that the govt was also working to improve the availability of quality medicines and strengthen pharmacy education, while providing pharmacists greater recognition and opportunities in the public health system.Rajanarsimha highlighted that pharmacists play a crucial role alongside doctors and nurses in the health sector, particularly in ensuring the availability of safe and quality medicines and creating awareness among people about their proper use and dosage.He said the 2026 World Pharmacists Day theme, “Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures”, was appropriate in highlighting their role in public healthcare.The minister said the dedication shown by pharmacists during the Covid-19 pandemic was laudable and expressed hope that the participation of govt pharmacy officers in public health protection would increase further.
