HYDERABAD: A 29-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a hotel in Madhapur on Tuesday.The woman, a native of Visakhapatnam, checked into the hotel on Monday afternoon with a male friend, who shifted her to a private hospital in Kothaguda on Tuesday morning in an unconscious condition.She was declared brought dead at the hospital and the friend had fled from the spot.Police registered a murder case.The victim, Sharon Nikhitha Topno, a native of Visakhapatnam, had checked into Room No 304 of a hotel in Road No 5 of Siddiqui Nagar in Madhapur with her friend Srinivasa Ravi Teja at around 2pm on Monday.On Tuesday morning, Ravi Teja alerted the hotel staff that Sharon fell unconscious and with their support, shifted her to a private hospital in Kothaguda.“Sharon was declared brought dead at the hospital. After she was declared dead, Teja, also a native of Visakhapatnam, fled from the hospital,” Madhapur inspector KV Subba Rao said.Hospital staff immediately alerted the police.“On examination, small injuries were noticed on the face of the deceased. An empty liquor bottle was found in the room. The Clues team visited the hotel room and the forensic evidence was collected from the crime scene. The exact cause of death could only be ascertained after the postmortem,” Madhapur ACP Ch Sreedhar said.The inspector said that they are yet to find out where the victim worked or stayed in Hyderabad.“Even her family is not certain of her work or place of stay. We are trying to locate Teja to know what had happened in the room. He switched off his mobile phone after the incident and our special teams have been deployed to locate him,” the inspector said.On the complaint of the victim’s friend, a case has been registered under section 103 (1) (murder) of the BNS.
