Hyderabad: Telangana is all set to house what is touted as one of the world’s largest fan manufacturing facilities, with Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals Ltd planning to set up its mega facility in Hyderabad at an investment of Rs 375 crore.Telangana govt has allotted 50 acres to the company at E-City in Maheshwaram near the Hyderabad international airport for the mega project. It will manufacture high-end fans as well as other home and kitchen appliances, IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu told TOI here on Monday.“It will be the world’s largest fan manufacturing unit,” Sridhar Babu said, adding that the project is expected to break ground on Vijayadashmi. The facility is expected to become operational next year.According to the proposal submitted by the company to Telangana govt, the plant is expected to manufacture 1.4 crore units annually at full capacity.While the first phase of the project will focus on induction and brushless direct current (BLDC) ceiling fans, along with table, wall and pedestal fans, the second phase proposes production of pumps and mixer grinders, besides a centralised motor plant.The facility will also include in-house manufacturing of BLDC motors and printed circuit board (PCB) assembly, a move that is expected to deepen Telangana’s local value chain in consumer electricals and electronics, as per the proposal.The minister said the company had discussed manufacturing energy-efficient appliances, including advanced gas-stove technology that will reduce LPG consumption, under its Butterfly brand, in Telangana as part of its expansion plans.The project is expected to create direct employment for around 3,500 people, including 500 managerial employees and 3,000 semi-skilled workers. Telangana govt expects domestic and export turnover of the plant to rise to Rs 4,670 crore in 2030-31.
