3 Transco staff killed as speeding car rear-ends truck in Karimnagar district | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Three Transco employees were killed and two others injured after the car they were travelling in rammed a stationary truck on NH-563 at Tadikal in Shankarapatnam mandal of Karimnagar district late Thursday night.The five men, who work at the 400kV substation at Yanampalli in Dichpally mandal of Nizamabad district, were heading towards Warangal as they had a rest day on Friday and had planned to visit several places in the city and its surroundings.According to V Srinivas, Huzurabad rural circle inspector, Gandhe Prabhu (38), a lineman, was driving the car, which he owned. The group was travelling at around 100 kmph when they saw a truck ahead and assumed that it was moving. When they tried to overtake it, they realised that the truck had actually broken down and was stationary. The car rammed into the rear of the truck, police added.None of the five occupants was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, police said. The impact was so severe that the car was badly mangled and one of the occupants was thrown out of the vehicle.Prabhu, Penjara Sudhakar (33), an outsourcing electricity artisan, and Bandari Vishveshwar Rao (38), a junior lineman, died at the spot. The other two occupants, linemen Gadari Murali and Ramavath Praveen, suffered injuries and were shifted to Karimnagar govt General Hospital for treatment.All five were employees of the Yanampalli 400kV substation. Vishveshwar Rao was a native of Warangal, while Prabhu and Sudhakar were from Dichpally. Prabhu had joined Transco under compassionate appointment after the death of his father and had recently shifted to Hyderabad with his family.The bodies of the three deceased were recovered from the accident spot and further procedures were taken up by the police.A case has been registered, and police are investigating the accident.
