5 arrested for attempt to sexually assault woman in Adilabad | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Five men were arrested after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman and attacking her husband when he intervened at Keshavapatnam village in Ichoda mandal of Adilabad.According to the police, the woman was washing clothes at her house around 6pm on Tuesday when one Sheikh Saleem allegedly entered the house, caught hold of her hand, pushed her down and attempted to sexually assault her. She raised an alarm, following which her husband entered the house.Saleem allegedly argued with the woman’s husband, following which four others, Sheikh Rasheed, Sohel, Sheikh Hanif and Sheikh Idris arrived at the house. The five allegedly attacked the woman’s husband with sticks and stones. He suffered a severe head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.The woman approached police after her husband received treatment. Ichoda rural inspector Ch Ramesh said police registered a case against Saleem under provisions related to attempted rape and against the other four under attempt to murder. Cases were also registered under other relevant provisions of the BNS.
