First-of-its-kind registration initiative for PM Modi’s Vadodara event; seats fill within an hour

NEW DELHI: All seats for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s programme in Vadodara were booked within an hour after public registration opened on BookMyShow, in what the government described as a first-of-its-kind initiative.The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) used the private digital platform to manage free registrations for the programme scheduled for Tuesday. Once all seats were booked, registration was closed, while more than 42,000 additional applicants were placed on a waiting list.The registration system will also be used for digital entry at the venue. Registered participants will receive a digital M-Ticket through their BookMyShow account, carrying a secure live QR code for entry verification.The registration, verification, venue entry and seating process is being managed digitally, according to the press release. The system is intended to facilitate entry and manage movement of people at the venue.

PM Modi to inaugurate and dedicate projects in Vadodara

PM Modi will visit Vadodara on Tuesday, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for several development projects.Among the projects he will dedicate to the nation are three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC), covering 326 route kilometres and developed at a cost of more than Rs 20,700 crore.The sections are Sanand (North)-Makarpura, New Umbergaon-New Saphale and New Saphale-JNPT. Their commissioning will provide direct connectivity to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority and, according to the official statement, facilitate movement of EXIM cargo and connectivity between industrial centres and ports.PM Modi will also flag off freight train services from New Sanand (North), New Makarpura, New Umbergaon and New JNPT in Mumbai.A new train service between Vadodara and Tanda Road will also be flagged off, benefiting passengers in Vadodara, Chhota Udepur and Alirajpur districts.

Railway, highway projects also on agenda

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for three railway projects spanning 329 km and costing more than Rs 9,700 crore.
