Hyderabad: Speaking to local leaders and party workers at his residence in Kodangal on Saturday, chief minister A Revanth Reddy alleged that the central govt was conspiring to delete votes under the guise of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.Revanth alleged that states governed by non-BJP parties had been targeted and claimed that similar tactics were used in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal. He accused the BJP of attempting to employ the same strategy in Telangana to gain an electoral advantage.The chief minister warned that Congress workers would not remain silent if attempts were made to undermine the party by deleting voters. He alleged that votes considered favourable to the Congress were being targeted and that the BJP was particularly focusing on the votes of SC, ST and minority communities.Referring to previous elections, Revanth alleged that the BJP had used agencies such as the ED and CBI against its political opponents and was now resorting to what he described as more insidious methods of deleting votes. He alleged that minor errors were being used as a pretext to remove the votes of poor people.He also alleged that the BRS was supporting the BJP in an effort to defeat the Congress and called upon Congress workers and leaders to take responsibility for protecting people’s voting rights.He directed party leaders to coordinate with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the village level and ensure that eligible voters, particularly those belonging to poorer sections, were not removed from the electoral rolls.He said mandal-level leaders should take responsibility for preventing the deletion of votes and asked each leader to monitor four villages. He stressed that party workers must remain vigilant and ensure that not a single eligible vote was deleted from any booth.
