Hyderabad: A Bharatiya Yuva Jana Morcha (BJYM) protest demanding immediate release of pending fee reimbursement dues for students turned tense at the secretariat on Thursday, with police detaining BJP state president N Ramchander Rao and BJLP leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy.A large number of BJP and BJYM workers and students gathered near the secretariat, alleging that Congress govt had failed to clear pending fee reimbursement dues. Protesters attempted to push through police barricades, leading to a scuffle between police and demonstrators.Police intervened and detained several protesters, including Ramchander Rao and Maheshwar Reddy, and shifted them to a police station. Protesters raised slogans against Congress govt and chief minister A Revanth Reddy.Speaking during the protest, Ramchander Rao alleged that non-payment of fee reimbursement dues was affecting higher education and employment prospects of around 40 lakh students, as students were unable to obtain certificates from colleges. Earlier, Rao said he had demanded an appointment with the CM and that he had to reach the secretariat because the appointment was not granted.BJP and BJYM leaders said they would intensify their agitation until the pending fee reimbursement dues were released and students’ issues were addressed.
