Indian envoys hold high-level meetings in Karnataka, explore global partnerships | India News
NEW DELHI: Consul General of India in Los Angeles Ambassador Dr K J Srinivasa and Ambassador of India to Azerbaijan Abhay Kumar held a series of high-level meetings in Karnataka as part of a diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening the state’s global outreach and exploring partnerships in technology, investment, innovation and industry.The two ambassadors called on Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, with discussions focusing on the state’s growing international profile and its strengths in technology, innovation, industry and skilled human resources.They also met senior members of the Karnataka government, including Electronics, Information Technology and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge, Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development Minister M B Patil, Energy and Tourism Minister K J George, and Transport Minister Byrathi Suresh.
Focus on technology, investment and innovation
The discussions centred on expanding Karnataka’s global footprint, facilitating investment and technology partnerships, promoting its startup and innovation ecosystem, and strengthening links with international technology and business centres.The meetings also explored opportunities to showcase Karnataka’s tourism potential and skilled workforce while developing stronger technology, education, innovation and investment linkages with global partners.As part of the visit, Srinivasa and Kumar visited Sarvam AI in Bengaluru, where they interacted with the company’s leadership and were briefed on India’s evolving artificial intelligence ecosystem, including indigenous foundational models and multilingual AI.The interaction also explored opportunities to strengthen international technology partnerships and connect India’s innovation ecosystem with technology hubs abroad.
Aerospace, defence and advanced manufacturing
The ambassadors also visited the Karnataka Aerospace Park and Centum Electronics, where they reviewed the state’s capabilities in aerospace, defence electronics, advanced manufacturing and high-technology innovation.The engagements highlighted opportunities for international investment and technology collaboration, as well as stronger links between Karnataka-based companies and global manufacturing and innovation networks.The visit covered sectors including artificial intelligence, frontier technologies, aerospace and defence, advanced manufacturing, clean energy, tourism, startups and entrepreneurship.For the Consulate General of India in Los Angeles, the visit also provided an opportunity to identify areas for closer cooperation between Karnataka and the US West Coast, particularly Southern California, in AI and emerging technologies, aerospace, higher education, startups, clean energy, investment and innovation.
