Ahmedabad resident Dhangauri Baroliya sent a Rakhi to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Raksha Bandhan, recalling a meeting with him during the Dharali floods last year.Baroliya was visiting Uttarakhand around Raksha Bandhan last year when she got stranded in flood-hit Dharali. Dhami visited the area to meet stranded people and met Baroliya during the visit.As Raksha Bandhan was approaching, Dhami asked her if she had a Rakhi and could tie it on his wrist. Baroliya did not have one, so she tore a small piece from her dupatta and tied it around his wrist.

In a letter sent with this year’s Rakhi, Baroliya said she had considered Dhami her dharma brother since that day. She said the meeting was special to her and something she would never forget.Baroliya said Dhami had boosted the morale of people stranded in Dharali and given them confidence during the difficult situation. She referred to the story of Lord Krishna and Draupadi, saying Dhami had similarly become a source of support for her.Baroliya said she was in Ahmedabad this year but did not want to miss Raksha Bandhan and sent the Rakhi to Dhami with the same affection and feelings.
