SBI Clerk recruitment 2026: Registration for 1,538 backlog vacancies ends today; direct link to apply here

The State Bank of India (SBI) will close the online registration process for the recruitment of 1,538 Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre today, August 27, 2026. Eligible candidates who have not yet applied can submit their applications through the SBI careers portal before the deadline.The recruitment is being conducted as a special drive to fill backlog vacancies reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates.Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State or Union Territory (UT).
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 : Vacancy details
SBI has announced a total of 1,538 vacancies under the special recruitment drive. These include:
- SC: 207 vacancies
- ST: 1,219 vacancies
- OBC: 112 vacancies
Selected candidates will be posted in the State or UT for which they apply.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: Who can apply?
Candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on April 1, 2026. They should have been born between April 2, 1998, and April 1, 2006, both dates included.Applicants must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government.Candidates in the final year or final semester of graduation can also apply provisionally. However, they must complete their graduation by December 31, 2026.Candidates must also be able to read, write, speak and understand the specified local language of the State or UT for which they are applying.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: Application fee
Candidates belonging to the SC, ST, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Ex-Servicemen (XS) and Disabled Ex-Servicemen (DXS) categories do not have to pay an application fee.Candidates from the OBC category have to pay Rs 750 as the application fee and intimation charges.
SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026: Selection process
The selection process will include:
- Preliminary examination
- Main examination
- Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT), wherever applicable
The preliminary examination will carry 100 marks and will have a duration of one hour. It will include English Language, Numerical Ability and Reasoning Ability.The preliminary examination is tentatively scheduled to be held in September 2026.Candidates shortlisted in the preliminary examination will appear for the main examination. The main exam will have 190 questions carrying a total of 200 marks and will be held for 2 hours and 40 minutes.The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the main examination. The marks secured in the preliminary examination will not be considered for the final merit list.

Candidates can apply through the SBI careers portal by completing the online registration process and submitting the required details and documents.Applicants should keep their photograph, signature, left thumb impression and handwritten declaration ready in the required format before applying.
