Maharashtra 3-year LLB admission 2026: The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced the schedule for the subsequent rounds of admission to the 3-year LLB course for the academic year 2026-27. The first round of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) has concluded, with 5,771 students confirming their admission to law colleges across the state.For the second CAP round, candidates will be required to submit or modify their college preferences through the Option Form between August 24 and August 26. The CET Cell will announce the Round 2 seat allotment on August 29. The authority has also revised the procedure governing the ‘Betterment’ option, cautioning candidates to carefully check their preference order before submitting the form.5,771 students confirm admission in Round 1The seat allotment for the first round of the 3-year LLB course was conducted on August 19. A total of 40,403 candidates had submitted their college preferences through the Option Form, of whom 14,948 were allotted seats.Following the allotment, candidates were given the opportunity to complete their admission at the allotted law colleges between August 20 and August 22. Candidates are advised to check the official CAP portal for further updates concerning subsequent rounds and admission-related instructions.Betterment rules revised for CAP Round 2The CET Cell has modified the procedure for candidates seeking ‘Betterment’ in CAP Round 2. The revised instructions apply to admissions to both 3-year and 5-year law courses for the 2026-27 academic year.Candidates who were allotted a seat in CAP Round 1 and wish to participate in Round 2 for Betterment should carefully consider whether they want to retain or modify their earlier preferences.If a candidate chooses the Betterment option and changes or rearranges the preferences submitted in Round 1, a new seat secured on the basis of those revised preferences will replace the Round 1 allotment. In such a case, the candidate will lose the claim to the earlier seat.Candidates can retain Round 1 preferencesCandidates also have the option of seeking Betterment while keeping their Round 1 preference order unchanged.If a candidate retains the original preferences and is allotted a college higher in the preference order, the higher-preference seat will be allotted subject to availability. If no higher-preference seat is available, the Round 1 allotment will remain intact.The CET Cell has therefore advised candidates to exercise caution while selecting the Betterment option and to verify their preference order before submitting the Round 2 Option Form.Preference order will determine outcomeCandidates have also been informed that they may select options of their choice irrespective of the vacancies indicated for CAP Round 2.Once the preference order is submitted, candidates will be responsible for the consequences arising from the choices made in the Option Form.
