Filming of Robert Pattinson‘s ‘The Batman: Part II’ is on in full swing and new footage from the Glasgow sets has already teased the first look at the Batmobile and the epic action chase sequence set to unfold on the big screens.

Clips shared by fans on social media show the all-new armoured vehicle speeding through the streets while being pursued by Gotham City police. One scene even features the police firing at the Batmobile at point-blank range as the car swerves round to escape. Another scene features a police unit firing at the car as it zooms down a street and take a sharp bend.For the shoot, the film’s team has headed back to Glasgow which has been doubling as Gotham City for the superhero film franchise. This time around, the sets have been covered in ice and snow, for the film that is reportedly set in winter. Filming began around August 18 and is expected to continue for several weeks over various parts of the Scottish city.

‘The Batman: Part II’ director Matt Reeves drops hints about sequel

Prior to the leakd clips, director Matt Reeves offered fans a first official glimpse of the Batmobile in a social media post that he captioned, “#SnowTires”.

Pattinson is set to reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the sequel, with Colin Farrell expected to return as Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin. Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis are also expected to reprise their roles as Commissioner James Gordon and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively, while Barry Keoghan is likely to return as the Joker. The sequel has also expanded its cast, with Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson joining the project as Two-Face and Poison Ivy, respectively.

James Gunn defends ‘The Batman: Part II’ delays

The production has faced considerable delays, with DC Studios co-head James Gunn recently defending the five-year gap between ‘The Batman’ and its sequel. The first film was released in 2022, while ‘The Batman: Part II’ is now scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 1, 2027, after being pushed back from its earlier October 2, 2026 release date.Addressing criticism over the delay, Gunn wrote on Threads, “To be fair, a 5 year gap or more is fairly common in sequels. 7 years between ‘Alien’ and ‘Aliens.’ 14 years between ‘Incredibles.’ 7 years between the first two ‘Terminators.’ 13 years between ‘Avatars.’ 36 years between ‘Top Guns.’ And, of course, 6 years between ‘Guardians Vol 2’ and ‘Vol 3’.”Gunn had previously explained, “Once there is a finished script, there is around two years for pre-production, shooting and post-production on big films (sic).”‘The Batman: Part II’ will follow the events of the 2022 film and is expected to build on the world established by its HBO series spin-off, ‘The Penguin’.
