‘Mom is voting for us’: Trump quips as protester disrupts South Carolina rally for Darline Graham

US President Donald Trump was briefly interrupted by a protester during a campaign rally in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Friday, but quickly brushed off the disruption with a quip about the demonstrator’s mother. The protester stood up during Trump’s speech at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center and was escorted out of the venue, according to The Independent.“That’s all right. That person’s going home to mom, gonna get scolded because mom is voting for us,” Trump said, before adding, “You know, mom is on it.”The interruption came as Trump campaigned for Sen. Darline Graham ahead of Tuesday’s Republican primary runoff. The president urged South Carolina voters to back Graham, who is seeking a full six-year term after being appointed to complete the term of her late brother, Lindsey Graham.“You have to get out and vote,” Trump told the crowd, urging supporters to turn out for Graham.During the nearly 80-minute speech, Trump also praised Graham’s focus on affordability and grocery prices, while taking aim at Democrats and touting his administration’s handling of the US economy. The rally came days after Graham faced criticism over comments during a primary debate in which she acknowledged that national security was not her area of expertise.Trump, however, defended her ahead of the Myrtle Beach event, saying she was being honest and was focused on issues such as the price of groceries.Graham is facing Rep. Ralph Norman in Tuesday’s GOP primary runoff, with the winner set to advance to the November election and face Democrat Annie Andrews.
