Discom to host three-day power expo from Aug 22 | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) will organise a power expo from Aug 22 to 24 at People Plaza to create awareness about its services and initiatives.TGSPDCL chairman and managing director Jitesh V Patil said the exhibition would showcase the discom’s achievements, performance and milestones, along with govt schemes, network upgrades, safety measures, substation construction materials, underground cabling, field equipment, consumer services, disaster management, the 1912 control room, renewable energy and charging stations.The expo will also demonstrate metering, bill generation, meter models, earthing and solar systems, underground cables and other equipment through miniature models.The CMD said the state govt had approved several projects, including conversion of overhead lines to underground cables in the CURE area and 33/11 kV hybrid indoor substations using space beneath flyovers wherever technically feasible. Equipped with switchgear and RTU integration, these substations will operate without manpower. Five locations have been proposed: Shaikpet flyover (pillars 6–7), Nayani Narsimha Reddy Steel Bridge (VST), Gachibowli–Kondapur flyover and Kothaguda flyover (pillars 2 and 60).The discom will organise exclusive visits for schoolchildren and conduct an hourly quiz at the stalls. A laser show will be held during the opening and closing ceremonies.“As part of the exhibition, the discom will arrange school children visits and conduct a simple spontaneous quiz conducted every hour on the stalls displayed,” the CMD said.
